Bio
For over twenty years, Marilen Coughenour has gained significant, corporate experience in executive leadership within a variety of industries, including Fortune 500/1000® companies. Within the fashion and media industries, Marilen has cultivated key relationships and worked with top brands, such as Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, and many more.
As a longstanding philanthropist, she has served on several board of directors, including Orange County Head Start, Chapman University – Leadership Program, etc. From 2005 to 2009, she served as the Board Chair and President of Working Wardrobes, a $1.9M nonprofit that provides services for those underserved for re-entry into the workforce.
In 2014, Marilen launched FASH UNITED, Inc. as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) to dedicate her time towards Human Rights and Equality. Her journey to create COLLECTIVE, CREATIVE, CHANGE began by uniting the fashion and design industries in partnership with the United Nations Trust Fund, key Human Trafficking Task Forces, etc. In 2006, Marilen received the U.S. Presidential Volunteer Service Award. In 2008, she was awarded a Remarkable Woman Award by the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO).
Her undergraduate degree is from Indiana University and Master’s Degree from California State University. She resides in Corona del Mar with her husband of over twenty years.
